The Culinary Arts Museum at Johnson & Wales University, a cool place, has a brand new blog.
On it you'll find details of a neat event this Saturday.
It's called the WEEKEND of FIRE and it runs Oct. 3 from 11AM-2PM.
The Museum sponsors along with the International Baking and Pastry Institute of the College of Culinary Arts in the tent area adjacent to the museum on the Harborside Campus of Johnson & Wales.
Bread genius and chef Ciril Hitz will lead demonstrations of a wood-fired brick oven, with pizza available for tasting. Members of the Connecticut Blacksmiths Guild will be working their portable forges and crafting culinary tools. There will also be tours of a Swiss Military Mobile bread-baking truck, the only one of its kind in the United States.
The event is FREE to museum guests. (Admission prices: $7 adults, $2 for kids 5-8, $6 for seniors, $4 for college students, AAA discounts also apply). Parking will be at a premium, so you may want to park on Narragansett Boulevard and walk the short distance down the hill to the museum.
