Hae Jeong Lee, whose popular radio and TV programs have made her a star in South Korea, is in Providence for two days to film a documentary about Korean cuisine that will be shown in October on the Korean Broadcasting System.

Known as "Big Mama," Lee is cooking before the cameras at Johnson & Wales University, in Providence.

The documentary will feature Lee cooking Toppoki, a traditional rice cake and fish stick in red pepper paste that is popular in South Korea. The documentary is part of an effort by the South Korean government to promote Korean cooking worldwide.

Lee does not have an English-language site, but readers of Korean can learn more about her at Cyworld, a social-network site serving members in Asia and the United States.
