Ardeo, a taverna at 1 Union Station, Providence has opened. It is the latest Ardeo with the others are in South Yarmouth, Hyannis and Brewster with a fourth one at a country club that has closed for the season. This small, almost 30 year old, Cape Cod based-chain is run by Joe Jamiel, a Warren native whose been anxious to move into the Providence market. The restaurant serves a Mediterranean cuisine including lamb, steaks and seafood as well as homemade pastas and breads, wood stone pizza, wraps and sandwiches. There are Greek, Italian and Middle Eastern dishes. Prices are $3.95 to $11.95 for appetizers; $11.95 and up for pizza; sandwiches are $7-$10; and entrees range from $11.95 to $23.95 It is open for lunch and dinner and is located at the site of the former Raphael Bar Risto. The restaurant has been extensively renovated but the layout remains similar as it was with the kitchen in the back, bar/lounge to the right and dining room in the center. Chef Kevin Gaudreau is director of operations for Ardeo. He recently left Ruth's Chris Steak House where he was the general manager. This is one of our favorite places to eat whenever we go out to the Cape. The food is always amazing! I am looking forward to going to the newest Ardeo!
